The American Chamber Ensemble

"This disc is recommended ... Drucker is a fine clarinetist who has performed around the world; her playing does not suffer in comparison to that of her husband, the great Stanley Drucker. Abram, too, is an esteemed performer and teacher; both string players also display high credentials. Deirdre Kingsbury brings her stage experience to bear on the songs, peering deep into their emotional spheres as well as mastering the vocal requirements." Fanfare.

"An accomplished and exciting performance of Paul Hindemith's Quartet rounds out the program ... Judith Lang Zaimont's cycle is a touching and sensitive treatment of poems from Frank Buske's Woman's Songs. Mezzo Deirdre Kingsbury gives a dramatic performance, and the instrumental work of Blanche Abram and Naomi Drucker is exemplary ... Weigl's 1953 work is conventionally tonal and instantly attractive. Interplay of color and line between clarinet, voice, and piano is excellent and gives fresh feeling to the familiar Dickinson texts."Journal of Singing.
